The Texas House has passed a statewide ban on texting while driving.

A report on the Star-Telegram detailed that members voted 113-32 to tentatively approve the legislation. The bill, authored by state Rep. Tom Craddick, will get a final vote in the House before it can proceed to the Senate.

A number of senators are opposed to the legislation, raising concerns about how police officers can tell whether a person is using their phone to text or for GPS.
