New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) has launched a campaign focusing on the benefits of less speed, rather than the consequences of more speed.

As a contributing factor in 20% of all fatal and serious injury crashes, the NZTA says speed continues to be a serious issue on New Zealand roads. In 2015, 87 people were killed and 466 were seriously injured in speed-related crashes.

The latest campaign, launched 15 January 2017, aims to encourage competent drivers, who like driving fast and see the speed they choose to travel at as a personal thing, to realise that speed is not just a personal choice.
