In an attempt to tackle fatigue-related crashes and save lives, November 6-13 2016 has been declared Drowsy Driving Prevention Week® by the National Sleep Foundation.

The annual campaign raises awareness of the under-reported risks of driving while drowsy and countermeasures to improve safety on the road.

According to a study by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, carried out in 2014, drowsy drivers are involved in about one in six deadly crashes.

To help promote the week, the National Sleep Foundation has developed a Drowsy Driving Advocacy Kit with research, reports, facts, an action plan and sample advocacy correspondence.
