Brake, the road safety charity, has launched a new website at www.roadsafetyweek.org.uk, for all those involved with national Road Safety Week (21–27 November 2016), the UK’s biggest road safety event.

Developed in partnership with Aviva, Specsavers and Think!, the new website gives educators, community groups, road safety professionals and other organisations easy access to ideas, resources and case studies based on this year’s theme: Make the Brake Pledge.

Anyone who registers for Brake’s free action pack can download resources from the members’ area of the website, including guidance sheets, posters, certificates, fact sheet, webcast for educators, school activity sheets, whole-school assembly presentations, selfie boards, social-media signatures, web banners, interactive resources and advice for at-work drivers.

The resources make organizing and promoting awareness-raising events and campaigns simple for everyone, whether they are taking part at a grassroots or at a national level.

Brake urges everyone to use the website to register for Road Safety Week and to Make the Brake Pledge, helping streets to become safe, sustainable, more pleasant places to be.

Gary Rae, director of communications and campaigns at Brake, said: “Road crashes kill five people every single day in the UK, and devastate another 60 families through life-changing injuries. Road Safety Week is a vital national event where we can focus on the cure, engaging with educators, professionals, community groups and other organisations, and spreading road safety messages to help save lives. The new Road Safety Week website is a vital tool in this engagement work, a one-stop shop where we can share information and resources that promote safer road use, and where visitors can show their commitment to road safety and sustainability by making and sharing Brake’s Pledge.”
